My baby girl is one! I think it’s time to officially introduce her in this blog. It’s not that I’ve been hiding her, in fact, I’ve written daily posts about our time on maternity leave #ulianasmaternityleavechronicles but it’s all been happening on Instagram. Making birthday blog posts is kind of a tradition though so I really couldn’t skip this one.

Happy Birthday to our beautiful boy Alaric! Although, he probably wouldn’t like to be called beautiful as he told me recently: “I don’t like beautiful things, I like cool things!”. Coolest kid around, the best baby, excuse me, big boy I could ask for. I love his curious nature, mischievous spirit and sweetest hugs!

Today Alaric skipped school and we went to the Natural History Museum! We’ve been meaning to go there for a while but always end up skipping it in favor of something like the California Science Center and Rose Gardens next door. Finally, I thought of Googling to find out when is the free day for this one (most LA museums have at least one free day per month) and lucky for us it was the first Tuesday of the month!

All Things LA

Honestly, my idea of a perfect weekend is getting together with family and friends, spending time outside, eating some yummy food and just enjoying the day. Today I met up with two of my girlfriends and our kids for brunch. We went to The Butcher, The Baker, The Cappuccino Maker in West Hollywood, it was so much fun! The food was really good, I got a croissant breakfast sandwich with salmon and my friends had a  breakfast burrito and a banana foster french toast (it looked bomb!). Whenever we get together with the kids it’s always a little crazy though.

This Spring pie has been our family’s traditional Easter pie for the last few years. Today I feel like finally sharing a recipe. It’s one of those dishes that is simple and delicious but not super photogenic that’s why I haven’t posted this recipe earlier. Every time I make it though, I tell everyone about it cause it’s so good! So I thought, no need to play a perfectionist, let’s enjoy it together instead. Without further ado, below are the step by step pics and the recipe.

I was tempted to start off this post by saying I can’t believe how time flies but had to stop myself cause duh! My baby boy just turned three years old! The age between two and three was probably my favorite so far despite the notorious terrible twos. I actually think it wasn’t that bad and all the funny and cute moments outweigh the tantrums which did not spare our family by any means. The past year has been a wild ride with so much progress, challenges and difficult choices along with the impossible love, laughter and fun. I’ve got the best kid ever and I am so happy and proud to be his mama.

Visiting Portland was on my list for a while.  It has always been “would-be-cool-to-do” thing though and not really a goal. I have a friend there who’s been inviting me to visit for the last 3 years and after one of our chats I was like what the heck, the time has come.  Not the best season (November) but the best moment because it’s now! We booked our tickets from LA to Portland, and because it was a random weekend the prices were great! One of those things when you finally do it and then wonder why did you wait so long?!

One of the most popular posts on my blog is the post about our trip to Disneyland with a baby. My Disneyland and California Adventure Silver Pass was set to expire in April and we wanted to sneak in one last trip before then.  It was good timing because my mom and 11-year-old brother were visiting. This time we decided to start with the California Adventure since none of us have been there and because my brother and now a toddler son are really into cars and California Adventure is where the Cars Land is.
