My baby girl is one! I think it’s time to officially introduce her in this blog. It’s not that I’ve been hiding her, in fact, I’ve written daily posts about our time on maternity leave #ulianasmaternityleavechronicles but it’s all been happening on Instagram. Making birthday blog posts is kind of a tradition though so I really couldn’t skip this one.

Happy Birthday to our beautiful boy Alaric! Although, he probably wouldn’t like to be called beautiful as he told me recently: “I don’t like beautiful things, I like cool things!”. Coolest kid around, the best baby, excuse me, big boy I could ask for. I love his curious nature, mischievous spirit and sweetest hugs!

Today Alaric skipped school and we went to the Natural History Museum! We’ve been meaning to go there for a while but always end up skipping it in favor of something like the California Science Center and Rose Gardens next door. Finally, I thought of Googling to find out when is the free day for this one (most LA museums have at least one free day per month) and lucky for us it was the first Tuesday of the month!

Honestly, my idea of a perfect weekend is getting together with family and friends, spending time outside, eating some yummy food and just enjoying the day. Today I met up with two of my girlfriends and our kids for brunch. We went to The Butcher, The Baker, The Cappuccino Maker in West Hollywood, it was so much fun! The food was really good, I got a croissant breakfast sandwich with salmon and my friends had a  breakfast burrito and a banana foster french toast (it looked bomb!). Whenever we get together with the kids it’s always a little crazy though.

One of the most popular posts on my blog is the post about our trip to Disneyland with a baby. My Disneyland and California Adventure Silver Pass was set to expire in April and we wanted to sneak in one last trip before then.  It was good timing because my mom and 11-year-old brother were visiting. This time we decided to start with the California Adventure since none of us have been there and because my brother and now a toddler son are really into cars and California Adventure is where the Cars Land is.

I am not a huge museum enthusiast. I mean, I enjoy going to the museums but mostly for the overall experience and not really for the things exhibited. The other day we went to the Petersen Museum for the first time. My mom and 11-year-old brother were visiting so we thought we’d include it on our list of touristy things to do. My 2-year-old son is also really into cars already so it seemed like a good idea.

So far, this fall has been incredibly warm. At first, I was grumpily mumbling that it’s about time for sweater weather, but now I have fully embraced it and have been soaking up every bit of sunshine we get. Last weekend, after all the morning chores and laundry, instead of our regular neighborhood walk we decided to take the train to the beach and arrived just in time for golden hour. It was such a lovely evening! From watching the bright red disc sink in the horizon to catching Alaric right before the waves got too close again and again, it was so much fun! He kept running into the water with no hesitation, so fearless! The water by the way felt pretty nice and some people were even swimming. There was also someone surfing and oh boy, surfing at sunset must be even more magical, the golden light was so gorgeous!

Recently I was invited to attend a fun event at Todd Reed’s on Abbot Kinney with Crateful Catering.  I have mentioned Crateful before in this post. From the uniform to the serving trays to, of course, the food, everything was beautiful.  The team was professional and friendly and they worked together efficiently. I was very curious to see the behind the scenes and it was a true pleasure to watch the Crateful Catering team, led by the Michelin Star Chef Cristina Bowerman, do their magic.

Cristina, who is native to Italy, was kind enough to meet me the next day and answer a few questions I had about the real chef life.
