Last weekend was so much fun, I had a baby shower! Of course, I heard about baby showers before but since there is no such thing in Russia and I’ve never attended one in the US, I had a pretty vague idea of what it is exactly and how it goes. I was thinking to get my friends together to celebrate at some point but it turned out they already have been working on it! To be honest, that’s probably one of the coolest things, as much as I would like to have one, I don’t think I would have time or energy to organize it myself.

I feel so happy and grateful to have such a great group of friends who really made sure we all have a great time! Special thanks to my friend Elina who hosted the party, Elina is also the creator of Smth Crafty, a fun service to make your party extra special, whether you will be making cozy arm-knitted scarves with your guests or mixing up some natural and delicious body scrubs, you can be sure it is going to be fun! Check out Smth Crafty website for more info!

My baby shower was decorated in a nautical theme with cute details such as origami boats, maps and really sweet messages in a bottle for future parents. Snacks also followed the marine theme (although completely vegetarian) and included “Sea Cucumber” sandwiches, “Octohummus”, Seashell Candy and so on.

Every year I write down my resolutions and goals, plans and wishes for the upcoming year. One of my favorite things to do before moving on is to find the list from the beginning of last year and see how I did, what came true, what didn’t, and to remember all the meaningful moments. It is crazy how fast the time flies and I truly hope to make every day, week, month as happy and memorable as possible. It’s all about little moments and below I want to share some of mine.

First time I wrote down my to-do list for the year was on New Year 2007; when I found that list in the end of the year I was shocked at how much of it came true and even more shocked at how important it is to clearly articulate what you want to accomplish. For example, I remember that I put something like “Start learning German”, I did start indeed but I didn’t get any good at it because eventually I dropped it. There were a few things similar to that and it definitely teaches me to be more specific and affirmative in my formulations.

For 2014 my list was kind of vague, things I wrote down were mostly general guidelines that I wanted to follow throughout the year plus some more specific goals and plans. Overall, I can say that 2014 has been a great year, many things that I wanted happened, some didn’t, and of course, it was not without surprises.

It’s here! After years of talking about it, my blog is finally here! I cannot tell you how excited I am for this! It is still work in progress and it will definitely take some time for this project to mature (and we all know there is no limit to perfection) but one of the things that I finally realized is that it’s now or never.

I kept procrastinating, finding a million excuses to why it’s not ready yet but the truth is there is no such thing as perfect time. A part of me still protests as I type this but it is what it is. How many times have you wanted to do something but doubts, fear or laziness would tell you it’s not the time, let’s wait till next Monday and then suddenly it’s next Wednesday and nothing have changed? Well, it happened way too many times to me and I am ready to take the next step.
